I have just updated my Standard Railway Castings Company website to add Berwind
and PRR GLa twin hopper semi-kits.
Semi- because the modeler must acquire a pair of Keith Thompson's detailed end
sills or make their own for the model!
The box will contain an unlettered SHS USRA twin hopper with PRR 2D-F8/ARA Y
trucks, SHS vertical staff brake wheel,
urethane roping staples, CDS lettering, and a sheet of car history and
conversion instructions. Price will be $45.
A bit of background may be in order: I had bought the SHS hoppers back in 2004,
and the lettering in 2006, with just
such a conversion in mind, but since Keith has graciously made his end sill
available, I see no need to duplicate that
work. Semi-kits will be limited to my stock on hand, as reordering may or may
not be possible in the future. I look
forward to receiving my own order from Keith shortly, after which time the
conversion instructions mentioned above will
be finalized and distributed to any early orders.
