Tom, et al..., are any of you actually buying Lionel SD's? Why don't you go to the Lionel Authorized Dealer you have a reservation with and ask them?? I did a long time ago and my dealer said: 1. The catalog has separate SKU numbers for versions with scale wheels. 2. Lionel "never" cancels a SKU without notifying Lionel Authorized Dealers. 3. His order to Lionel would drop by over 50% if they cancelled the scale wheel SKU. It is always more entertaining to debate Internet "truths" on forums like this, but in the interest of not leading a couple hundred guys astray, check with your dealer!
