Bill,
I like what you said about ShS including both wheelsets. I still have all of my
scaleeee wheels if I do want to chage over to scale, I just have to get the
couplers to make the conversion. Yes I got the answer i did not not want from
Lionel. MTH was betteras they will continue with SHS sectional track and hope
the do the same with the flex track. The F-3 is coming, but they don't know
when Look for their S catalogue it should tell us when. I know I did not get
the answers we were all looking for , but I tried.

Subject: {S-Scale List} an uncommon hobby connected by 2 rails

I have said many times once you change scales EVERYTHING changes – the people
involved change, what is available changes, even if you decide to concentrate
on or get out of narrow gauge in your chosen scale, it all changes. Besides the
2 rails that is where the similarity ends. Still to this day after painting
literally hundreds of O Scale brass freight cars I find it hard to believe that
most of them were never ever made with brass trucks, and they eventually ride
on the same generic Athearn plastic trucks. O Scalers love them and buy those
trucks by the case. Almost all S brass freight cars were made with their own
brass trucks and remain with the car to end use.

In my mind what Lionel and MTH should be cognizant of is the true very fickle
very niche market the is S SCALE, especially if the items have to be ordered
with the end user’s choice of wheels. When I first heard of SHS including both
wheels in their items I thought it was a waste but I quickly realized what the
impossible task of stocking **anything** would be without that mindset. The
plus of this also is not truly knowing what the end use is - as Scale or
Hirail. Brand new item orders with 1 set of wheels are tough to dispute.

For L and MTH to go on a 1 size fits all “build it and it will sell” mode of
operation could be bad for all involved. If recent posts are true it will be
almost a year before any official word from MTH is revealed. That is a long
time to keep a new market and group of prospective customers completely in the
dark. Living in the vacuum for over 2 years with almost nothing big and new
released, the prospect of any NEW items will keep interest. Again knowing the S
Scale market would show we are used to waiting for years for new things – it is
sort of expected! (:->)

Thank You,
