Hi Earl...
I don't remember all of them, but Dick Cataldi and Ed Loizeaux were part of the
group. I think Gary Chudzinski was also. Too much time has gone by and I just
do not remember everyone. Jim Kindraka was an "inspector" for us. He did some
test shot evaluations. The rest of the group has escaped my memory. Maybe
Billy Click?
Actually, it was not that unusual for individual modelers or small groups of
modelers to combine their funds to pay for new products. A lot of new S scale
stuff got made that way. Omnicon imported brass locos that way -- 100 guys
called themselves the GANG OF 100. SHS was just two fellas who combined their
money. River Raisin Models was a group of three guys. SouthWind Models was
two guys at first and one guy toward the end. PRS was two guys. DPH is one
guy. AM is one fella who sold his house in San Jose, CA and put the money into
S scale injection molding tooling. That took guts!
It has been like this for a long time. Lionel and MTH are the first
substantial corporations to put their toes into S scale waters. Not counting
Overland Models, of course, who took their toe out when RRM started up.
Interesting history....Ed Loizeaux
