Michael Ostertag asks: > What is the prototype for the Pacific Rail Shops 50' Single Door boxcars? > Is it a Pullman Standard design or is it from American Car and Foundry, General American or someone else?
The PRS single door 50' box car represents a standard AAR car design. The best source I am aware of is an Ed Hawkins article from the 11/98 RMJ, found here: http://www.trainlife.com/magazines/pages/342/25234/november-1998-page-16 The ends represent a car built after 1954. You may also be interested in the 8/99 RMJ article Ed wrote covering the prototype of the PRS 50' double door, as well. Earl Tuson ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
