Today's digital cameras are good! I think Brooks Stover has commented that he 
uses a medium priced digital camera for all of his shooting on his layout. He 
may even have  an article out there somewhere describing how he does it.

Just because a person can afford an expensive digital camera doesn't mean he 
should run out and buy one, unless they have a business that requires one. Both 
of my cameras came second hand from KEH and do a satisfactory job. I've even 
done commercial photography with them.
