Merely for information my current layout has had no contaction/expansion 
issues of any magnitude.  However I used the same wood to built 3 previous 
layouts that only reached the benchwork or basic trackwork stage.  The wood for 
this layout had, for the most part been in the basement at least 3 years before 
this layout.  I suppose the rule about aging wood in the basement for a year is 
true.
