(1) I bought up a bunch of S Scale Heritage box cars when the NMRA was having a close-out sale last year. Up to that point, I purchased everyone offered.
(2) I received my congratulatory 50 years NMRA Membership certificate last year. (3) For several years I wrote a regular "S Scale" column titled "S-Scale Rails" in the NMRA Bulletin, until they first ran into financial problems [about 2003] and the magazine had to all but shut down. Heck, I even featured Jamie Bothwell's LVSG Secret Project "Double Out House" in one of my columns, and that is a NMRA no-no! (4) Over the years, the NMRA has bent over backwards to get the S Scalers and Gaugers to join in. I never could understand model railroaders who could spend thousands and thousands of dollars on trains, but couldn't afford the increased dues structure to enable the NMRA to survive. I also find it very difficult to believe that many members on this list are not members of our NASG, nor the NMRA. As good friend Ed Loizeaux has said many times, how can you survive when one modeler subscribes to his magazine, then makes copies of it for twelve others? Go Figure! I've never regretted being a member of the NMRA or the NASG over all these [since 1962] years, for I've met so many good, kind, generous model railroaders in this journey, and I hope to continue on meeting them as long as I'm able to be in this wonderful hobby. "S"incerely, Bill (Fraley)
