Rusty, I think Jess would be pleased with your efforts to improve those
engines. He did a good job with what we had at the time, but he knew
the shortcomings too. He did great work over the long freezing cold
winters in Idaho.
I think it would be neat if we knew who had those Bennett built engines
and actually how many he made. When I once visited him, he told me he
was going to build a little ten-wheeler, but didn't have a small enough
motor. I later sent him a Holland can motor, but I never knew if he
actually used it.

If you own one of these rare custom built brass models would you
please contact me? Some owners of these models have ask that I help
with a correct boiler front. I need to know how many to make.
Jess also built some SP cab forwards that should have had the SP style
box-pox driver centers instead of spoke driver centers. I have those
driver centers, Fred at SSL&S has tires.
The weather is horrible here in San Jose. it's sunny and in the 60's.
That is not good at all. It should be cold and rainy, lots of the
rainy. The more rainy the better!
Contact me off list, I may have worn out my welcome here.
