Mary and I went for a [auto] run to Strasburg, Pa. yesterday, just for me to stop by one of my favorite Hobby Shops, the Strasburg Hobby Shop.
http://etrainshop.com/ I was informed that [Atlas] Code 100 rail joiners have been in back order for some time because of the "China" thing. Also, the shop owner said no more S gauge in the shop. That was surprising with Lionel and MTH coming out this year and their shop is full of both. I had a nice talk with the clerk and of course he had no solution at this time. Of course later on this year, things could change in that regard. We then drove over to Lebanon, Pa. where Draude's Hobby Shop is located. Draude's Derailment is a monstrous hobby shop and features everything. He still had several packets of Code 100-78 rail joiners by Atlas, so I bought them. While perusing his shop, I was amazed to see boxes and boxes of pure American Flyer equipment. Draude buys up everything he can; he laughed and said it's amazing what people find in their attic and bring in here to sell! Everything in the shop is always for sale, and if you pay cash [or check] he takes another 10% off. In addition if you order equipment through him, he sells it at a large discount. I believe his cost, plus 10 or 20%. I Can't remember. On your way up to Scranton this year, you should try and stop by Draude's Derailment in Lebanon, Pa. http://local.yahoo.com/info-11988884-draude-s-derailment-lebanon, I'll guarantee that you'll find something to buy!
