Bill, I built the kit put out by Amity Star but then modified it
considerably. One thing is that many icing platforms were fairly long
and often served several tracks for all the services needed--car
cleaning, pre-icing etc. Where our models tend to service 3 cars--mine
handles 5-6 'cause I built it on a curve, but it should be twice as long!
When it comes to reefer height, Kinsman who usually did some accurate
work produced a mess of 36' mostly billboard style that were way too
high. I owned a ATSF version for a short while until someone told
me--they goofed.

I sold my Twin Whistle icing platform because it was too high and the
6) 12" sections could not be easily made to look continuous. A new
icing platform is in my future. In case you were wondering about
reefer heights, I measured.
All measurements are to the layout deck with the car on the track.
(Measured in between the ties) The track is Tomalco code 100.
