Re: AM Baldwin S-12 switchers w/slow speed gearing...

Hi All:

I have four of the AM Baldwin S-12 switchers with slow speed gearing. They all
perform about the same (i.e. decent quality control). Two of them were in the
process of being modified and detailed. Doing so really ups the visual impact
of the little AM model. Unfortunately, as with all of my model railroad
efforts, the AM Baldwin projects are in a state of suspended animation and I
don't know when/if I'll return to them.

In regards to their slow speed operation, mine are about the equivalent of the
old HO scale Athearn "blue box" switchers. That is, "good enough", but not
superlative, such as an SHS SW/NW. I had not gotten to the point that I had
tweaked the mechanisms to optimize what is possible with the existing parts
before they went comatose on me... but hopefully "one of these days" I'll do so.

Hope this helps.

Andre Ming
