I think part of our situation that we seem to be missing is the idea of
picking up new people. In the past I have purchased the N scale
magazine, Narrow Gauge Gazette and some others because they had articles
that I thought I could use. These were generally about a particular
industry ie. How I Modeled a Copper Mine on my N scale layout or
Modeling the Milwaukee's Greenbay Line in O scale--stuff like that.
Dick's recent article on building up the CNJ early diesel might fit into
the category very well, but I doubt if anybody beyond present
subscribers will ever see it.
How do you correct that? SEO guys, computer guys!!

In my opinion, the best way to be successful with a digital e-zine is
to follow the format of the hugely successful Model Railroad Hobbyist.
They have quite a few advertisers (sponsors) and they are free of cost
for the subscriber. The next attempt at an "S" scale publication might
just finally succeed if they try to emulate MRH.
