Roy is right about Freds Train shop. I had the pleasure of being there when the new
Flyonel Ace KCS unit arrived. Although it was hirail, he took it out of the box and tested It on some track he had. Beautiful and well detailed, and ran like a dream. But I model steam/diesel and alas, live in the past. Mike Fyten Kaw Valley Railroad We have been over this territory many times in the past. In the meantime in my neck of the woods, Fred¹s Train Shop in Overland Park, has opened and does carry a selection of S. It is by far his slowest mover, but he persists because he likes the scale. I cannot buy enough by myself to sustain his inventory, however. Part of what contributes to the situation of little S to be found at your LHS is the fact that so many of us have been buying online and mail order for so long, and have gotten to know these sources for reliability and price, that we don¹t even bother to check LHS. Fred has quite a few SHS freight cars in stock, plus a very nice SHS MOPAC set, lots of old Gilbert and that stunning new Flyonel ACe KCS unit. The one in stock is high rail, but of course it can be ordered as a scale version. I was totally blown away by the finish and detailing. I did not see it run, but according to Fred it works very well indeed on TMCC/Legacy. Cheers, Roy Inman
