I found some pictures in my collection of trucks iceing reefers. The 3 photos
were taken in Milwaukee by the Heil Co. (they made the body) and the back of
the photos states they were taken at the Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery in
Milwaukee, WI. The truck is a White model WA, which were made from about 1940
to the early 1950's. One photo shows a man putting ice in the hatch. The other
show the back and front of the truck. The 4th is from an International
Hatvester truck brochure. It shows a jack knife lift next to a reefer car and a
man handeling ice. The truck in this ad is a IH model D-60. The D series were
made from 1936 to 1940. At one time, there was a lot of beer shipped from
Milwaukee in reefers. As far as I know, there was no ice platform in Milwaukee,
so they would have to use a truck. Another modeling idea. If anyone would like
to model these jack knife lifts, the brochures I have gives most dimensnions.
