diamond tip scriber works much better.   I used a template of circles.

I don't know how well this would work with glass but a friend of mine cut me 
some FT porthole windows in clear styrene by using a drafter's circle template 
(metal one) and a sharp scriber. Might work with the carbide tip scriber also, 
but I would expect to make a few before getting a good clean cut.
