I must admit I agree with Earl's overall point. Let's give MTH an opportunity to actually deliver models and make an evaluation at that point. I will agree that after looking at the catalog, there are some things that on the surface I like/am interested in/etc. and some I am not. But to me, experience has shown these catalogs are generally Photoshop'ed productions at best.
If as little as four months ago, someone would have told me that I'd be buying an America Flyer loco to run on my DCC controlled scale layout, at a minimum I'd probably have made some sarcastic remarks about how unlikely that was. And yet here we are just four months later I own not 1 but 3 AF SD70ACe's and IMHO they are an excellent model. Great detail, excellent paint job, fine running, and support DCC. As with any model there are pros & cons (they are not perfect and there are always opportunities for improvement), but it is an amazing step up in AF models from Lionel. So as a result I'm willing to give MTH a lot of benefit of doubt until they actually deliver models and I can put my eyes and hands on them, especially since they have all the tooling/etc from SHS.
