Looks like there is a lot of different thoughts on this.  A quick search 
of the web shows that Atlas O did the car with a blue roof - no photo of 
the ends.  Crown did it in O with green on the sides, roof, and ends.  
Micro-Trains in N Scale used boxcar red on the roof and ends.  Delton 
did it in G with boxcar red roof - no end photo.  K-line did it in O 
with green sides and boxcar red roof and ends.

The boxcar red on the roof and ends looks good. That would get my vote.

Perhaps you can call the company and see if they have any photos in 
their historic files.
