In fairness to MTH, using $39.95 for a base price on the ore cars is noot
really a good comparison. When the ore cars were released at that price ALL of
SHS non reefer freight cars were priced at $39.95. As costs went up and SHS
reran box cars, hoppers, etc the prices went up. Since the ore cars were never
rerun SHS never raised the prices on them. If they had subsequent runs would
have kept pace with the other freight cars, and probably would have been $52.95
like the last runs of box cars. I agree that having to pay an additional $12.95
just to add scale wheels is a major issue. The modeler should be able to get
the scale wheel car at same price as a hi rail car. Although the jump in wheel
prices is very large, $12.95 is also what most NWSL now retail at as well.
