Well list, many of us have managed to take an event that I expected to be happy
news, the re-introduction of the S Helper line by MTH and a new scale
locomotive from Lionel Flyer, and twist it to launch a series of largely
negative threads and "opinion" messages that really contirbute little to the
grooup or anyone's understanding of S modeling.
I understand that these announcments may not have been everything some hoped,
but this has gone over the top (followed by the discussions on accessories,
defining "scale" and "toy" etc. - which obviously accomplished a lot the LAST
time we had a similar discussion covering all the same points).
After some discussion among the moderators and comments from some members we
have decided that a vacation is due - again.
The whole list will be moderated for at least the rest of the week. Messages
may be delayed in appearing for up to a day, depending on how many there are
and when the moderators find time to read through them.
Messages with S Scale Modeling content will be approved (in time). Those
containing generalized opinions about the meanings of terms, the importance of
certain company's marketing decisions, how
"realistic" it is actually load coal into cars, etc. will be rejected.
It would be great if every list member would pause and think "Am I giving
information of value in this post, or putting out my opinion on something which
changes nothing and helps noone else?". It would be beyond wonderful if
everyone got into that habit before we (quietly) take the group back off
moderation.
