I have Tsunami decoder in my AM Pacific. It ran continuously for several hours
at a time on the SMSG club layout at last fall's National Train Show in Grand
Rapids. Pulling 5 or 6 AM coaches I never had a problem. The engine does not
have a smoke unit and, as has been suggested, I wouldn't try driving one with
decoder outputs. I have two AM ALCO FA's and they also ran 'non-stop' at the
show pulling freight trains without issue. I am currently converting a Lionel
2-8-8-2 into a B&O EL-3 2-8-8-0 and I have test run it with a Tsunami installed
without issue. The current draw on even this twin-motored engine is low enough
to allow decoders designed for HO and bigger engines. Brooks Stover
