Tom,

I've had good luck painting Delrin parts with Modelflex.  If you can't find a 
match, just use something close and then paint over the Modelflex with your 
final color.

As usual, behind on my reply.  First, thank you
for all the suggestions; I have learned quite a bit about dry transfers. 
I think for the level on the job at hand DTs will be okay.  Appling them
to a flat finish sounds like the easiest thing to do.  Finding the decals
you want in S is a real lesson in frustration. 

   

The only freight car ladders I’ve been able to
find are Grandt Line Delrin plastic.  I seem to remember hearing that Delrin
is not very paint friendly… so what to do? 

   

I would like to do one stop shopping this time. 
I ordered some Kadees from Trainworld… the price was good until they
shipped them – a giant box with a couple of Kadee envelopes inside for
$16 in shipping. Never again!
