My problem with storing them is the different sized packages. Most are
the old Enhorning/Champ size but then you have full sized sheets from
Microscale plus DesPlains has a couple sizes, so I can't store them
without several sizes of boxes.
When it comes to storing stuff, I've spent countless hours trying to
stay organized and still remember where things are. I would say that it
is wise to move things around every few months. That will refresh your
memory when you unearth things!
One of our members used to attend commercial type auctions. I now have
a series of metal interlocking file drawers that hold long things like
NE wood. So I have drawers for wood, styrene, brass etc. He also gave
me some well made store type cabinets that once held cash register
terminals. Nice wide drawers that will hold a S cars upright for
storage with room for magazine binders under that. They are still low
enough to slide under the layout. Stores pay big dollars to have this
stuff built and it sells as scrap after a few years.

The clutter factor finally got to me yesterday. It started as a search
and destroy mission looking for a specific set of decals. I finally
found them at about 10:00 last night. By the end of today I will be
able to see a lot more of my desk than I have for a while! It is the
result of a few years of working on many things and not cleaning up
very well.
I am also reorganizing my decal/dry transfer collection. I made a box
for them 2 years ago. It is about 12" x 24". About ¾ of the decals are
S Scale. Most of the rest are O Scale with a few HO. I was and mostly
still am in the "buy them when you see them" mode. I would rather have
the decals and not the car than have the car and not have the decals.
Anyone else have the sheer tonnage of decals like this? (:->) It
absolutely is a few pounds of decals even without the wood box.
Thank You,
Bill Lane
