If I may add one other thought regarding Frank...when I started to
unpack my gear and crawl around under the layout I was having some
back/muscle issues, but Frank, who must be 20+ years older, was having
no problems moving around under and around his layout--he stayed healthy
for a long time even while his working life wasn't a cake walk.

I guess those who have known and followed Frank over the years knew
that this was coming. I was privileged to photograph Franks layout
several years ago, not long after his feature in the Tracks Ahead
television series. Franks modeling was excellent sound work just like
his kits.
This just brings up another reason for me to someday produce this
photographer's retrospect of some of these layouts that are now
divided up, sold off or put in a dumpster grave! Of course, the
downside of all this were the key layouts of the past that weren't
properly recorded or those even today captured without forethought
beyond emailing. I would have enjoyed traveling a couple of months
per year doing exactly that, but making a living has ways of canceling
much of that effort.
I hope Frank will continue to have a comfortable life. I also hope
that the new owners of his items will appreciate just a little bit of
history that comes with them.
