Thanks for the mentions of my layout from Peter, Roger and Bill.
Unfortunately the folks who make the decisions were not impressed with
what I had submitted a couple of years ago. I had submitted just a few
images so I might try again in the near future. Maybe I need a better
photographer--and I'm only half kidding--sometimes it's best to have a
fresh eye on things.
Trying to read what's in an editor's mind, (or an entire staff for that
matter) isn't much different than all these talent type TV shows--you
never know what will make the final cut. I have submitted excellent
layouts only to be told--we have enough ATSF layouts already, or we
can't do that many S, or N layouts, or we don't need Western themed
layouts for awhile. So no matter what quality layout you might have
it's a matter of fitting into the magazine's plans for the next year or
so. With that being said, I was told "the best always floats to the
top" so will get published quicker.

No kiddin'!!!
I have visited Bob's layout many times. I can't imagine anything
needing to be added to it. It is a nice, large, fully-scenicked layout
that runs well (ahem; just clearing my throat). There are tons of
mini-scenes that can fill up an article quickly.

Hi Bob ---
I think yours is close to “finished.” When are we going to see an
article on it? I know a good photographer who can take the photos...
Have fun!
