Well, I didn't make Scranton, not because I would not have liked to be there,
but circumstances just wouldn't allow it. That being said, I have no X-29
boxcar to ooze and drool over, and I'm not sure it do me much good if I did.
I'm still trying to assemble a PRS Rock Island Express boxcar with varying
degrees of non-success; the old fingers just aren't as nimble as they once were.

However, I didn't let my non-attendance at Scranton go to waste. I took the old
Marx stock car that has been roaming around on SHABBONA for several years and
detailed it.

Since I wanted it to look like it had been around the system a few times, I did
not try to put an exquisite paint job on it, but rather used a cheap paint
brush and acrylic paint to put the two-tone red and white paint job on it. I
have to say, it didn't turn out too bad, and the marker panels and the excess
decals made it look much more prototypical than it really is. I was impressed
with the amount of detail Marx put into this car, obviously made for the toy
market. Maybe we should have contracted them to make cars in S for us.
