I agree- take advantage of S for superior switching
operations.

For years, I was able to keep an operating crew
busy with a 2x10 foot switching layout (based on "Switchman's
Nightmare" from Kalmbach's "101 Track Plans"). See the
attachment.
I later extended it with the 2x6 foot NASG modular
section. Eventually, I separated the two with a corner section, and was
able to have two crews working at once.
These are now part of a
larger basement layout.
