One of my favorite railroads (Milwaukee Road) was pretty high on that list early on. Of course with Rockefeller money in the game I'm sure didn't hurt either. I tune into a MILW road Yahoo group and a couple of knowledgeable members and many speculators can talk endlessly about the road's demise--interesting history to say the least. The Dow Jones put out a 129 year timeline of companies that made up The Dow Jones over the years. It used to be called The Dow Jones Industrial Average and railroad history buffs might be interested in how many and which railroads, and aligned industries, were part of the Dow in years past. Hopefully the attached link will work for anyone interested... http://money.cnn.com/interactive/investing/dow-timeline/index.html?iid=Lead Jim Kindraka Plymouth, WI
