Hi all --

Well, this week has seen some significant progress on the railroads, both
standard and narrow gauge, though I had little to do with it. Courtesy of
Rusty in San Jose, I now have the last of my narrow gauge brass passenger
cars and snow train painted, and my SD-7 repaired and ready to return to
service. He took this project on when the person who was going to do the
job failed to show up at the OSW+S last winter. He had sworn off of doing
others’ painting, but was more than nice to bail me out. That leaves only
a bunch of narrow gauge steamers and the standard gauge diesels left to
paint. These I hope to do myself “S”omeday... While I was in the San
Jose area I also picked up some decal materials so I can get back on that
horse and finally get more rolling stock lettered. I also picked up a few
Blue Point turnout controls because I have discovered a need for being able
to operate some turnouts from both sides of the benchwork, something I can't
really do with Caboose ground throws.

Starting next week there will be a whole series of friends coming through,
so now the major push is to get a bit more wiring done and to keep the train
room from becoming one big booby trap.

Meanwhile, the honey-dos are lining up....

Have fun!

All:

Well, shucks... I was gonna' throw together some new pics and upload 'em to
kick off this week's Friday Night Fun so I could really razzle dazzle
you'ins... BUT... the server that hosts my pics n' stuff is on the fritz.

Soooo... since no pics to razzle dazzle 'ya... I'm gonna' baffle 'ya with
BS!!!

In a nutshell...

My return to S scale has been off to a rocky start. Vocational time
elements mainly (plus a vacation), as well as realizing that I have too many
boats out in the stream that need to be paddled a while before I can reach
the shore with them. HOWEVER... I HAVE done some "things" S scale! They
be:

* Ordered/received my first two SHS rebuilt boxcars that is compatible with
my era/theme. Those are duly scale-wheeled, Kadee'd and on the layout.
(Nice cars, BTW.)

* Took inventory of where I'm at with my current projects. (Still need some
tidbits to finish the Baldwins.)

* Starting the process to amass the needed items for one of my SHS Undec
NW2's w/DCC Tsunami. Seeing as no SHS NW2 has surfaced in the CB&Q
"Blackbird" scheme to purchase... reckon I'll have to "roll my own". This
will give me a pair of CB&Q switch engines to use on the layout as needed.
(I'm thinking in terms of "pairs" for each roadname I want to represent.)

* Also starting to amass the items needed to paint and decal one of my
Baldwin's into a Missouri Pacific unit.

* Started the process of cleaning up my layout, cleaning wheels, etc. Along
with this "clean up" I've dumped a ton of 3 rail track that was stacked on
the layout into the awaiting hands of 3 rail recipients. The few remaining
3 rail engines/rolling stock will follow shortly.

* Plus, there have been other trivial things I've accomplished that signify
a "return".

Okay... that's what I've been doing. Who's next? What 'CHEW been doin' in
S scale???
