Subject: neutrals and commons
 - GreetingS -

Tom J is quite correct in observing that you can choose the terminal
to be known as common terminal or base post. You can do this because
the secondary side of the transformer begins a new or isolated power
system where, for us, the power is appropriate for running trains.
The common terminal or rail is the one to which other terminals, rails,
or voltages are referenced. A loose definition of the terminal to
which voltages are referenced is the neutral terminal.

If you good folk will continue, in the spirit of doing good, to remind
me that I should use common, not neutral, I shall learn to speak the
correct language. Your persevering help is appreciated very much.

CheerS,
                                        Rhett
