Please see the Jan/Feb 1990 S Gaugian for an article on repowering AF 
Baldwins. I used the article as a guide and used a motor one size 
larger and also used a Dallee rectifier/reverse unit to run on A.C.
Also changed the NWSL shaft and connectors for Athearn HO scale 
universals and telescoping shafts for driveline. Another conversion I 
have done since uses an American Models Baldwin chassis that has the 
fuel tank outside detail removed and the chassis milled slightly 
narrower at the fuel tank and coupler mounts and body mounts made 
from brass. Will this unit pull! Both units have not compromised the 
AF chassis or shells.
