I have used one myself, and I have sold quite a few of them! I have one customer who uses TEN of them to operate his entire (huge) layout. He loves them (obviously!) Have another customer who purchased one, tried it, and bought two (or 3?) more of them. I am impressed with them; although they do not have the power of a 300-watt 30B, they are about comparable to the 18B. Moreover, the unit includes horn/whistle controls that will operate the AM sound systems.....not sure about SHS. This unit has an MSRP of about $215....we offer them at $159! I understand from MRC that a Pure Power AC double unit is forthcoming.
