Robert, do you mean commutator segments on the rotor? And if so, how do you propose to place a 'transient protection device' across the commutator? There are three segments to each american flyer rotor, and I dare anyone to place a 'transient protection device' across each pole of a rotating commutator! There is simply no space for the suppression device in the motor field area. nor is practicionable given the tiny size of an american flyer motor.
Surely you meant to say........an application of transient devices across the commutator field across the brushes and cross linked upon and around all portions of the main winding. Was that your intent? Sincerely, Alan. S-Trains list sponsor: http://www.americanflyertrains.com All the Flyer you desire...books and accessories too!
