That probably won't help. The rate limit is based on the number of files (or blocks) per second, not the amount of data per second. For example, you could transfer a 1 GB file at 100 MB/s with no problems, but transferring 1000 1 MB files at the same rate could hit the limit. That said, S3QL is expected to just slow down on its on if the server signals an error. Apparently this does not work in your case.
