That depends on your requirements. How quickly do you need to be able to
restore the data from S3QL in an accident? How much would it cost you if
it was gone completely? How long do you intend to preserve the backups?
Would this be your only backup?
I am using S3QL with Amazon S3 as the primary backup solution for all my
important data, supplemented only by a full local backup to physical
media every 6 months. The main reason of the secondary backup is that,
in case of a full data loss, I can very quickly recover the 6 month old
state and then need to retrieve only the files that have changed since
then from AWS.
But then, I know that as the developer I am able to fix almost any
problem that I may encounter. If I get hit by a bus, other S3Ql users
may sooner or later run into problems because no one is maintaining the
code anymore.
