Hi, I'm skeptical that this is a future proof solution, since https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/API/API_Object.html just says that "If an object is created by either the Multipart Upload or Part Copy operation, the ETag is not an MD5 digest, regardless of the method of encryption.". If there is no documentation from AWS about how to compute the ETag for these cases, we should not attempt to do so.
