*The Swaziland Solidarity Network ( SSN) Press Statement on the Banning of the Social Forum Conference in Swaziland*
The Swaziland Solidarity Network (SSN) ha s learnt with disgust however not surprised of the tinkhundla royal regime's banning of the Southern Africa Social Forum Conference that was scheduled to be held on the 16thto 18th at the Mavuso Trade Centre in Manzini, Swaziland. Social Forum Movements are an integral force in the fight for democracy, good governance and most importantly the social well being of the Peoples of the world. Not to outdo itself, the Mswati 111 government found it befitting to issue a statement and ban this conference. Parts of the statement reads "......the Swaziland Government that the hosting of thee meeting in the country will not be in the national interest , and will compromise peace, security and stability of the Kingdom of Swaziland .......". This is a clear sign that the tinkhundla regime is working tirelessly to ensure that the struggling masses of Swaziland stay in perpetually poverty since it is a tool of the regime to control the people and prevent them from demanding self rule and a people centred government. This also clearly displays for the whole world to that mswati does not have the interests of the people at heart let alone allowing them the space to discuss the challenges they face with the aim of finding lasting solutions. We condemn this backward and oppressive behaviour of Mswati and his government and urge all democracy loving people to continue with the fight for the liberation of Swaziland. We call upon all democrats to join hands and fight this tyranny by participating at the following picket; *Venue : Jorissen street, starting at 13h00 today, Swaziland Consulate, Braamfontein, Johannesburg* Date : Today 14/10/2008 Time : 1:00 pm Issued by the [SSN] For more information please contact Lucky Lukhele- SSN spokesperson 072 502 4141 --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "SA Swaziland Solidarity EOM Forum" group.
