There was temporary commun-ication black-out in this community when a
sub-station belonging to MTN Swaziland was petrol bombed on Friday
night. The
damage that was caused by the bombing is estimated to be over E500 000.
The sub-station is situated inside the cane fields next to Mananga
border gate. Some of the damaged property includes the two main suppliers of
network. The
people who bombed the station are suspected to have thrown the
explosive which is suspected to be a petrol bomb over an enclosure with
irons as the gate leading to it is always locked. The station was bombed during
the night as it was discovered the morning of the following day it had been
damaged.A
source close to the matter said it was after officers from the main
station discovered that there was no signal from Manjengeni station that
they went to ascertain the problem only to find that the station had
been petrol bombed. When this reporter visited the place yesterday security
guards were found at the station and no repairs had been made. The security
guards said they were deployed to the station on Saturday after the incident.
"We were not there when the bombing happened. We have just been deployed to
guard the station and we work in shifts. This
was the second bombing to occur in the same area in a same week as on
Thursday a house belonging to former member of the proscribed entity
PUDEMO was also petrol bombed by unknown people.Bheki Tsabedze’s two bedroom
house was petrol bombed while he was asleep with his family. Only the walls of
the house were damaged and police are still investigating the matter.Police
Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Wendy Hleta confirmed the
incident saying police are currently investigating the matter."We
are still investigating this matter and there are suspicions that there
is a connection between the two bombings which occurred in the area.
The matter is currently being handled by Tingculungulu," she said. She
however promised that those behind the crime will soon be brought to
justice as police are intensifying their investigations."We
would also like to urge anyone who might have information that can lead
to the arrest of the perpetrators to inform the police as all
information will be treated with confidentiality," she said. The

from using explosives on anyone or government’s property as it is a
criminal offence. She said the law would definitely take its cause on
people who would be found to have committed such offences.
