CPS 2017 SUMMER SCHOOL - Boycott and disrupt Mswati's sham elections
20 December 2017 The Communist Party of Swaziland is holding its annual Summer School 22-28 December 2017 in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. The summer school will be attended by party activists from all areas in Swaziland. They will analyse and look at how to mobilise on the boycott campaign targeting the Mswati elections. The Mswati regime uses its elections sham to mask its oppressive, autocratic practices and try to avoid international isolation by mimicking election processes that lack any bases in democracy. The banning of political parties and running of a highly repressive regime undermines any open criticism from the people. Through the boycott campaign we seek to expose the truth that tinkundla is a feudal relic used to perpetuate the monarchic autocracy. Apart from exposing the elections fraud, our activities will increasingly focus on making the regime unable to govern in key sites of power. It is almost impossible to organise peaceful protest for democracy due to the clamp-down on rights of assembly. Freedom of speech and expression is all but outlawed. Criticism on the monarchy is severely punished. It is up to the CPS and together with genuine pro-democracy activists to encourage our people to stand up against the regime and use creative forms of resistance to confront it and thwart its activities. The majority of the people in Swaziland remain poor, cannot meet basic standards of life because the economy simple serve the ruling family and its political elites who has exclusive control of political power. Lack of effective challenge to the tinkundla autocratic system is attributed partly to the weaknesses of the leadership of the prodemocracy movement, which is plagued by factionalism and infighting. This lack of leadership among the traditional broad-based mass movement frustrates many Swazis, particularly the youth in tertiary institutions, who are waging a heroic struggle against the regime. The 7 days political school will apply Marxist-Leninist analyses of the entire political-economic-social situation in Swaziland - including the character of the pro-democracy movement. In this 100th anniversary of the Great October Revolution in Russia, we will be asking what lessons of that time apply now to our revolutionary struggle in Swaziland. The school is an open-platform for Marxist-Leninist discussion of the situation in Swaziland (with a special focus on the upcoming elections), and all who are interested are welcome. Attendance is arranged through the CPS organisers.
