NAMBOARD CEO'S CONFLICT OF INTEREST ONLY A TIP OF THE ICEBERG SSN- Statement: 15 January, 2019
The Swaziland Solidarity Network [SSN] condemns the self-serving antics of NANBOARD's CEO Siphephiso Dlamini who profits from the country's anti poor protectionist ban on the importation of maize meal. The Dail Maverick's investigation team uncovered this conflict of interest recently and subsequently forced Dlamini to admit to being a part owner of a milling operation that benefits from the decisions which he makes in cahoots’ with his colleagues. What nation at large needs to know is the extent to which the royal family also profits from their poverty. As part of its greedy ambition to have a stake in every major company in the country, the royal family is reported to have shares in the country's biggest maize meal producer, namely Premier Milling Swaziland. This effectively means that NAMBOARD's decision to ban the country's citizens from importing affordable maize meal from South Africa, together with the National Maize Corporation's ridiculous prices for the country's staple cereal are both done with the blessing and for the benefit of the very same institution which is responsible for the people's poverty. We strongly condemn this greed and urge Swazi people to consider boycotting all companies linked with the Royal family.
