assalamu alaykum, Something not related to Sabily; two years ago I created a jabber bot (jabber is a messaging protocol like Msn, yahoo, Icq etc.) with the following features: - runs on Windows and Linux. You install the bot on your(s) machine(s) then you see it in your contact list and you can "chat" with it - can watch the file system (for example you can receive a message as soon as a file is created in a specific folder). I use that to be warned when downloads are finished - can watch the Windows EventLog (you receive a message as soon as an entry is added in the eventLog). I use that to monitor one of my windows server - you can execute commands like ps, top, cd, ls etc. So it's like opening a ssh session to your machine but without configuring ssh. Of course it's only useful remotely (you are at work and want to execute commands on your home computer). - the bot can send you files - you can "chat" with the bot (using an AIML engine) - other commands : "ip" to display the local and internet addresses, "alarm" to receive a message after a specified timespan, "sysinfo" and "diskinfo" to display information about the system and hard disks etc. - and the bot is very smart because it even has a blog :) http://myhalbot.blogspot.com/
I'd like to know if you'll find it useful, I want to know if I should "bury" or "resuscitate" this project... -- Mehdi Administrator of the Sabily project (formerly Ubuntu Muslim Edition project) http://www.sabily.org _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~sabily.team Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~sabily.team More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
