السلام عليكم، I will try here to summarize the list of changes that are from Ubuntu, the following is a compilation from Alpha 1,2,3 technical overview [1][2][3]
1) Linux kernel 3.0
2) Default email client is Thunderbird instead of Evolution
3) Gnome3 (The default session is Unity though not Gnome Shell, there
was a discussion about changing that default in Sabily in the last
cycle). This also involves a transition to GTK3. This means the
following:
* From what I understand, Sabily's current GTK theme will not work
with GTK3, hence we might need the designers to make a theme for
GTK3 (or we can just use whatever theme Ubuntu will use)
* To minimize space on the CD (and also the installation size), it
would be great to migrate applications to GTK3. I doubt that this
will be an easy task.
* There have been a change in gnome screensaver, we will need to
check if our screensaver theme will still work.
4) Déjà Dup backup system included in the standard installation [4]
5) Login manager is lightdm [5] instead of gdm, it seems that
unity-greeter will be the default greeter. Anyways, that means that we
need Sabily designers to find out how to make themes for lightdm.
6) Gwibber has a new interface using the most recent GNOME
technologies.
