Salam, So, to be honest, and clear.. I am NOT a Sabily Founder or Maintainer.. I'm just someone that tried to contribute years ago when no one was free to do it, and failed because of many reasons..
*With that in mind,* I'll share my thoughts about this honestly, my only goal here is to get things clear enough for anyone who's trying to help.. *1*. As far as I can understand, Skygate Genisys is a *company* not a Free & Open Source GNU/Linux distribution *2.* Assuming that Skygate Genisys is an Ubuntu based distribution (as mentioned in Hirech's email) , it's a distribution that no one in the whole world already used and tried and checked the source code.. How can the FOSS community trust a such "distribution".. *3.* You distribution is based on Ubuntu, Sabily was based on it too.. Why make it based on "Skygate" that is already based on Ubuntu? Why not just get involved packaging the needed software to just work again on Ubuntu.. *4.* I'm not sure if I already shared this point on the ML before or I just discussed it with someone else on IRC (#sabily).. Sabily is nothing but some custom packages that ca be installed on Ubuntu.. Delivering a Sabily ISO every X months can be hard if there is no one free to do it (let's not talk about the needed hardware ressources to build that).. So, instead of delivering the ISO, why not just invest in maintaining the Sabily PPA, that way, Sabily will be always there, available to be delivered whenever someone needed to install it.. And those PPAs can be tweaked to Debian, and after some years we can (with the right guys & infra) get it work for RHEL based distros too.. Those are my thoughts.. I'd like to hear the thoughts of the project founder(s) and old active maintainers.. *So sorry if someone felt that I'm being mean, harsh or don't want to help, but I can't find a better way to express what's in my mind..* BTW, the next Sabily code name was already picked, and it's waiting for someone to use it for a new release, like the old good days..
