Stefan (and everybody else),

Sorry for the delay answering your question. Nobody was able to give you
an answer as we had a passionate discussion on the license issue. We
realized that the GPL is inconvenient for this kind of library and that
we have to switch the license soon and once forever. The LGPL was our
favorite for a long time but we decided for the MPL+GPL (MPL with the
possibility to redistribute under the GPL) in the end.

This is a standard solution in the XML world (see expat) and we believe
it is acceptable for the community. The double license should allow to
employ Sablotron in both open source and commercial products. A feedback
from both open source and commercial developers will hopefully help us
to improve Sablotron the way we want.

This post is a kind of official announcement of the license change. The
new license applies since the version 0.4, which is supposed to be
released in a few days (well, we suppose that since a couple of weeks
ago).

Speaking on license, it could be useful to make clean also our
contributor policy. If you send a patch to the list or to the GA
directly, we suppose we can include your portion of code in Sablotron
under the terms of the Sablotron license (which is MPL+GPL since the
next version). The author of an included patch becomes a contributor
automatically. The contributor copyright of the included code still
remains.

Any comments on the licensing are welcome.

Best Regards,
Petr
