We were careful in designing that table to be super simple, with the idea that under normal circumstances it takes a LOT of changes for there to be a real impact. If you do get worried because you're at a very large scale, there's no major harm in removing old entries from time to time.
There is a small risk. If you remove all entries older than a year, and there's a device that hasn't done a sync in a year, they might not see the changes between their last sync and 1 year ago.
