FraserStudios Project A multi-disciplinary art space CALL FOR PROPOSALS: Fraserstudios Visual Arts Residency Program 2010
Frasers Property have introduced a new initiative to make creative use of otherwise vacant warehouse space in the old Kent Brewery development site, on Broadway. From September 2008, three warehouses at 10-14 Kensington Street, Chippendale have been temporarily transformed into a multidisciplinary art space, produced and managed by Queen Street Studio. Part of this initiative is a Visual Arts Residency Program that will offer free workspace to Sydney based visual artists. There will be four 3-month residencies for 8-10 visual artists/groups per residency from November 2009 to October 2010. Additionally, the program will offer two 6-month residencies during this timeframe to emerging artists. The aim of the residency program is to support artistic development and expression with an emphasis on local community development through a diversity of art form practises. The residencies are open to professional artists and groups (emerging and established) encompassing a diverse range of practises and outcomes. All applicants must have the capacity to work in a shared space with other artists and commit to working in an active studio environment. The program takes a very broad view of the term “visual arts” and may include, but is not limited to; painting, sculpture, photography, digital arts, textiles, installation and design.
