“To me, a drawing, as a basis of any art creation, has always been particularly fascinating, primarily for its essence and simplicity - the shortest impulse between the idea and notion Although my drawings appear as photographs at a first glance, my intention has never been hyperrealism and imitation of another media, but exploring the possibilities and limits of the drawing itself and the attempt to place it in the contemporary context.
The subject of my drawings is only a fragment of wider interests for the ''urban life'' domain and fascination with contemporary ''lifestyle aesthetics'', which is the conceptual platform flowing through my work. Scenes that I choose are screen shots taken from different ''trash'' movies which are plantations of contemporary ''virtual landscapes''. They exist in our sub- consciousness, but do not draw any attention because of their triviality.
On the other side, these are authentic places of worlds' metropolis - places where the 21st century men really lives. Black shiny surfaces, reflections, city lights, asphalt… are exciting to me, although when separated they represent a collection of ultimately banal elements.“
