Hi, right now it doesn't make sense, since that list is neither final nor intended for the current setup. I'm working on a new setup and that list is part of a quite large test suite to make sure, that the installed software is actually there (e.g. important python, R and julia packages can actually be imported, etc.)
In the future, once that's fleshed out, this list should definitely be somewhere more visible.
