There was a very specific cause for this, namely this commit: https://github.com/sagemathinc/smc/commit/49ba0a4b7628c26fe782eee3d1635f0808575564
which I fixed about an hour later via this commit: https://github.com/sagemathinc/smc/commit/d7a0ddb287aab957ac77b5637268a93e30d6fcf7 I spent *a lot* of time the last two weeks working on bug fixing and quality improvements to some very tricky, critical, low level asynchronous code related to communication and realtime sync.... and as far as I know everything is now perfect.
