I use both. I use the notebook often when I'm doing "real math work", 
and also frequently when testing / developing code.  I use the
command line when using the Python/IPython debugger, 
when debugging segfaults (via sage -gdb), and often when I log 
into a remote machine.   

I also use both vi and Emacs, and sometimes use SAGE from within
emacs.
